After months of planning, I FINALLY made my dream of having a senior rep themed shoot a reality! I thought that it was appropriate to make the first one "Endless Summer" due to the fact that it is STILL 75 DEGREES AND SUNNY here in beautiful San Diego!
As I watched my girls get all glammed up by the xobeauty.co team and change into their adorable outfits that I picked out from the Wild Dove Boutique, I couldn't help but SMILE! Despite the fact we had about 12 girls crammed in my tiny apartment, we managed to stay sane and just made a big party out of it! We jammed to music and chatted about life including what my senior girl's futures might look like after graduation. Twas' the perfect way for the girls to bond and feel comfortable with each other before we headed out to the location! It was a true miracle that it all came together so beautifully and was a miracle that we got to the beach right in time for the perfect golden hour/sunset at Law Street in Pacific Beach, San Diego. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it.
Anyways, all I got to say is THANK YOU to the girls that were able to make it ( Kendal, Larissa, Spatika, Sienna, Lizzy, Margarita, Camilla, and Mykaila), they are ALL so uniquely beautiful and I am so excited to join alongside them throughout their senior year! Crossing my fingers we can get all 11 girls together in the future!
Secondly, THANKS TO ALEXIS, FOUNDER OF XOBEAUTY.CO ( https://www.instagram.com/xobeauty.co/?hl=en ) for taking on this project SO last minute. Her talent in beautifying my girls really made ALL the difference. If anyone needs a makeup or hair stylist HIT HER UP!! Her and her beauty dream team are one of the most fun loving crews I have EVER met!
Lastly, THANKS TO RACHEL OF WILD DOVE BOUTIQUE ( https://www.instagram.com/wilddovesd/?hl=en) for trusting me with the most adorable selection of tops and for allowing my girls to feel like true models in top brands such as Show Me Your Mumu! If you have never heard of them or been to the boutique, check it out. The cuteness of it all will just make your jaw drop and WILL make you want to spend your entire paycheck there. The words they live by are: "Clean, Easy, and Multifunctional. Oh, and maybe “It has pockets!” SO CUTE!!
1. On a shoot, lead with precaution, even at the beach, because you might just happen to step on a cactus in the middle of your shoot like I did. Thankfully I had my friend Danny there to calm me and help me pull it out of my foot! I apologize to my girls though who had to witness me in such a vulnerable state!!
2. Scope out your location prior to going. When we arrived to the location I thankfully already had the vision of what I wanted to do in my head. However, that does not mean everything went according to plan. Which brings me to my next point...
3. Allocate enough time to prepare for the unexpected. Earlier is better than later, especially if you are planning to do a shoot during sunset! My original plan was to just take photos down by the water, but as always I got distracted by other PRIME photo backgrounds such as the white picked fence and green shrubbery bush! Thus, if you are planning to have a makeup/hair artist crew make sure they know what time you need to be done and at your location. To do 7 girls, as well as myself, it took about 3-4 hours. Last thing you want is to have them put in all that effort and then arrive too late and not get the shots you were hoping for.
